NU, first institution to be inspected for Environmental Planning Program

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Environmental Planning conducted an inspection/monitoring of National University’s BS Environmental Planning Program under the College of Architecture in a hybrid setup held through Zoom and at the NUNS Henry Sy Hall, Friday, January 27.

Professional Regulatory Board of Environmental Planning Chairman, Hon. Michael T. Ang thanked National U for heeding the call to offer the program for higher education and provide career guidance for the students to pursue this direction.

College of Architecture (COA) Dean, Ar. Chona Ponce shared that from one enrollee since its launch in 2021, it has increased to 40 in its first regular year. Despite the fluctuating number of students, the dean laid their plans for the course’s development starting from system unit upgrade to software installation.

“I’m so impressed and I am too happy about that.” – PRBoEnP member, Hon. Cora Cruz stated, pertaining to NU’s curriculum of having 10 units more than the CHED’s requirement.

Meanwhile, NU President Renato Carlos Ermita, Jr. expressed delight with NU being the first institution to be monitored as he also looks forward to raising the next, more diverse generation of architects, planners and designers who have high regard for the environment.

The board lauded the Institution’s expansion development reaching beyond Metro Manila and hoped for a strong cooperation from different institutions as they also aim for a mutual recognition agreement, guaranteeing acknowledgement of the units earned to give quality education to aspiring environmental planners.
