National U obtains third straight ISO certification

Due to its commitment to continually innovate and improve its systems and services, the National University recently received the ISO 9001:2015 certification courtesy of TÜV Rheinland.

This is the third straight time NU was given the recognition by the German-based certifying body which also operates here in the Philippines.

The ISO certificate is only given to universities who passed the organization’s standards when it comes to design, development and delivery of higher education and non-academic services.

According to Quality Management Office head Arlene Trillanes, this is a big help to National U as the university strives to give quality and excellent services to the entire NU community.

“We are able to check the efficiency and effectiveness of our processes. This is one way of knowing that because we do internal audit and also of course the external audit and through this activities we can see the lapses, the things we need to improve on, so it’s really for continual improvement.” Trillanes said.

The Quality Management office also reviewed the requirements of the standards to ensure that the university will be recertified.

“The assumption here is we should be ready anytime, not only during audit. All requirements and standards should be in place, it should be a way of life here in NU, para kahit kailan ka puntahan ready ka.” Trillanes ended.

The ISO 9001:2008 certificate version was first granted to the university in 2009 and was renewed in 2013. The 2008 version is due to end December this year and the university was rewarded with a new certificate, this time the latest version, the ISO 9001:2015 which will expire on December 2019.
