Another big win for NU Pep Squad

National University bags one of the three medals won by the Philippine contingent in the World Cheerleading Championship in Florida. This annual event of the International Cheerleading Union (ICU) was held last April 23 – 24 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

The NU Pep Squad bagged bronze in the Co-ed Elite division, with Mexico and Chile winning gold and silver, respectively. Miriam College’s Sayawatha, on the other hand, landed third in the Team Cheer Hiphop division behind USA and Japan. Meanwhile, the Philippine all girl team, comprised of students from different schools, won second in the All Girl Elite division, with New Zealand in first and Australia in third.

Chito Loyzaga, athletic director of the National University, expresses his immense pride in the group as well as his gratitude for the leaders and sponsors that have guided the team into victory. Having just been appointed his position a few weeks ago, this win reflects well on Loyzaga’s coming years with NU’s prized athletic department. As is, the recent addition to the team’s growing accomplishments, successfully representing the country in an international competition, puts them forward in the field of cheerleading, as well as athletics.
