National University Chorale once again brought pride to the Nationalian community after successfully bagging the back-to-back title in Awiting kay GLEEng Season 9: Harana last September 21, 2019 at the Festival Mall in Alabang.

The NU Chorale bested nine choir groups in the amateur choral competition that featured community-based and school-based vocal groups from around the metro. Participants in the competition were required to perform a rendition of any OPM song in two rounds. The team composed of twenty members thrilled the audience with their version of “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka” and “Kung Ako’y Mag-Aasawa” that made them garner an average score of 91.70%.

According to the group adviser Maria Gailanne Rodriguez, it took them only two weeks to prepare for the event due to the conflict on the students’ schedule.

“Dapat hindi na talaga kami tutuloy, pero napagkasunduan na sige, ilaban na natin. Pero sinabi namin sa mga bata, walang expectations, pero we were hoping kasi target na rin naman before na mag-back-to-back. We were nervous but super happy when we heard na sa announcement that NU won.”, she said.

As grand champions, NU Chorale took home a cash prize amounting to thirty thousand pesos plus a trophy.
