National U, DATEM Inc. sign MOA for student and faculty training program

The National University and construction company DATEM Incorporated recently inked ties for cooperative education and faculty immersion project for the benefit of the students and faculty members of the school.

The signing of the memorandum of agreement which was attended by NU and DATEM Inc. officials was held last August 19, in B Hotel, Quezon City.

Under the one-year agreement, NU can send students for on-the-job training program, management training program, while faculty members will be given the chance to immerse in the company for learning exposure.

According to College of Engineering Coordinator for OJT and Linkages Engineer Chester Dizon, the MOA signing marks the start of the university’s formal partnership with the company for the second straight year.

“It all started with the OJT program, but now they are expanding and offering other services, they are giving management training program for graduating students, at the same time, partnership for our graduates, that once they are done with the board exam, they can go through training with DATEM if they want to.” Engr. Dizon shared.

Faculty members will also be given the chance to train in the company to learn about the current trends in the field.

“Our faculty here will have exposure outside, and it is a good thing that they can go there and be updated as to what is new and what is the latest in the industry.” Engr. Dizon added.

DATEM Inc. was built in the 1980s and with more than 9000 employees, it is considered as one of the top construction companies in the country.
Aside from civil engineering students, it is also opening its doors to other courses and students who would like to train with them.
