The NU Bulldogs bagged silver medals in the recently concluded UAAP Season 86 Badminton Tournament yesterday, November 12, at the Centro Atletico Badminton Center in Cubao, Quezon City.

The Bulldogs dominated the Ateneo teams in both doubles category duels, courtesy of Season 85 MVP Solomon Padiz Jr. and MJ Perez tandem, 21-13, 21-14. The National team picks Julius Villabrille and James Villarante followed with a sweep, 21-15, 21-16.

NU head coach Jaime Llanes acknowledged his players’ efforts in maintaining a podium finish and thanked the shuttlers for giving their best.

Meanwhile, the NU Lady Bulldogs took home bronze medals after defeating UST, 3-1, November 4 at the same venue.

It was the power duo and country’s No. 3 pair Jeya Pinlac and Gwyneth Desacola who dismantled UST in the second doubles matchup, 21-16, 21-8.

In the singles category, Karyll Rio put NU on board after a 21-13, 21-10 sweep while Ysabel Amora strengthened their bronze campaign for gunning another victory, 22-20, 21-11.

The NU Lady Shuttlers obtained three consecutive bronze trophies dating back to season 81 in 2018.
