The National University Pep Squad secured another NCC podium appearance after bagging two National Champion titles in the 2-day event of National Cheerleading Championship Season 16, held last March 25-26 at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
The NU Cheerleaders transcended their best 2010 dance pop routine garnering 246.5 points despite being the youngest contender in the open coed elite division.
The Team Blue of the NU Pep Squad expressed that the reason behind their performance is the urge to bring justice to the routine that the coaches entrusted them with.
The open coed elite champions exhibited clean pyramids, outstanding tosses and tumbling averaging 68.5, 40 and 25.5 points respectively.
The Gold and Blue pride also took home the national title in the coed college cheer division, tallying 345 points, outscoring five other collegiate teams. NU is the only team to score beyond 300, with the second placer to record only 276.5.
The Sampaloc-based squad averaged 69.5 in tumbling, 70.5 points in both stunts and tosses and 67 points for the pyramid, successfully executing their routine with no deduction.
Meanwhile the NU Pep Squad obtained silver medals in the open all girl group stunts and open all girl pom pairs division.
