National University’s Inaugural Founder’s Cup Golf Tournament Raises Money for Scholarship Fund
National University (NU) officially launched its Inaugural Golf Tournament last January 12, 2024, at Tagaytay Midlands.
NU’s first prime event of 2024 marked the beginning of the golf tournament and served as a celebration of NU’s success in academics, sports, and development. The proceeds of the tournament will directly fund the University’s Scholarship Program for its scholars.
The NU Golf Tournament was attended by one hundred thirty-three (133) golfers from its alumni, officials, the SM Group, and various sponsors. Also in attendance was Dr. Hans T. Sy, NU Chairman of the Board, and his family. NU’s CEO and President, Dr. Renato Ermita Carlos, Jr., Congressman Edwin L. Gardiola, and the grandson of NU’s Founder, Maestro Louie Ocampo were also present in the said tournament. The tournament started in the early morning and lasted until late lunch. The celebration and awarding continued at the China Palace.
“We are here for three (3) reasons; the Scholarship Program Fund; NU’s success in Academics and Sports; and NU’s growth and expansion across the Philippines,”—Dr. Renato Ermita Carlos, Jr. in his welcoming address.
Congressman Edwin L. Gardiola, NU’s Exemplary Alumni Awardee 2019, also provided a short message expressing his gratitude to his Alma Mater.
Prizes of appliances were given during the raffle. Two lucky golfers won a business franchise from our sponsor, Parikit Manila, and another golfer won one hundred thousand pesos (Php100,000) in cash. Although the main prize of the brand-new Audi Q3 Tango wasn’t notched after golfers missed the Hole-in-One challenge, the participants were elated during the inaugural celebration of the golf tournament.
NU and its Corporate Affairs Division teams—Marketing and Resource Development and Alumni Affairs Office–are already planning to annually organize the golf tournament.
