NU explores collaboration with Fuzhou, Xiamen universities
With the objective of advancing the University’s academic and institutional goals on a global scale, National University conducted exploratory discussions with several public and private universities in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, and Xiamen China last August 27-September 1, 2023.
The NU delegation headed by NU President/CEO Dr. Renato Carlos H. Ermita, Jr., along with NU APC President Dr. Ma. Teresita Medado, VP for Corporate Affairs Rolando Averilla, AVP for Academic Services Dr. Arlene Trillanes and Ms. Maria Victoria Pineda of NU Asia Pacific Academy, was assisted by NU Ambassadors Dr. Shan Shizong and Mr. Sun Jim.
The Manila-based delegation visited the Fuzhou University, Yango University, Minjiang University, Fuzhou Business and Technology University, Newland Group Co thru Newland Education followed by Xiamen Institute of Software Technology (a private institution offering 3 years of technical college) and Quanzhou Normal University (a semi-government university funded by the overseas Chinese).
They also met with the public leaders of Fuzhou—the head of the Mawei District and the Fuzhou Overseas Friendship Association; and the parents of the new students enrolled for the bachelor’s program in NU Manila.
The Chinese institutions hosted a campus tour to their libraries, museums and research centers and held a meeting to explore areas of collaboration particularly on research, internship and faculty and student exchange.
The highlight of the visit was the signing of academic agreement with Yango University, Fuzhou Business & Technology University and Xiamen Institute of Software Technology.
These collaborations will be a powerful way to further foster National U’s academic excellence and global competence. Making it truly “Education that works” not only in the Philippines but also internationally.
