NUDC clinches silver in UAAP Street dance
National University Dance Company placed second in the UAAP Season 85 Streetdance Competition held last May 27 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
The streetdance competition finally returned in the UAAP radar after a 4-year hiatus due to the CoVid-19 pandemic to cap off the season.
The Jhocson groovers flaunted their motivational stunts on the dancefloor as they dedicated their routine to all student-athletes who continue to strive for their dreams.
“Itong piece na ito, dine-dedicate namin para sa lahat ng student-athletes and para sa mga taong never nag-stop mag-dream. Laban lang,” said the NUDC Head Coach Louie Guevarra in a post-performance interview.
He also shared that all the hard work really paid off and that’s the sweetest thing, stating “Story namin yun, wala nang iba.”
The troop started their conditioning last January and their 2:30-minute routine was established within 3 months with the help of their coaching staff, Coach Aljo Clarino and Coach Joel Gonzales.
NUDC had an average score of 446 points with 91 points for overall effect, 134.5 points for choreography, 88 points for technical, and 132.5 points for group execution.
The competition was heated between the NUDC and the newly hailed Streetdance Champion, UST Prime for having a close average of only 2-point difference after the latter tallied 448.
Meanwhile, the Gold and Blue bearers broke the first performer’s curse and maintained their podium appearance after taking bronze in Season 81.
