NU Lady Bulldogs bag silver medals in Chess
The National University Women’s Chess team remained podium finishers after their final match last Sunday, November 19, at the FEU Tech Gym.
The team’s exceptional performance was driven by individual board achievements. Leading the charge was Woman FIDE Master Allaney Doroy, securing a silver medal on Board 1. Jesca Docena’s bronze on Board 3, Natasja Balabo’s silver on Board 4, and Jelaince Adriane’s gold on Board 5 added to the team’s remarkable tally.
Despite stiff competition, NU finished with an impressive average of 17.0 [28.5].
While in high school chess, the National University Nazareth School (NUNS) also made waves with a commendable performance in the Girls’ Division, earning a score of 12.0 [22.0] to claim silver.
Sara Dalagan emerged as a standout player, gaining a silver medal on Board 2, and clinching the prestigious Rookie of the Year award. Other notable contributors to NUNS’ success included Woman National Master Lexie Hernandez who earned a silver medal on Board 1, Heart Padilla’s gold on Board 4, Yana De Vera’s silver on Board 5, and Joella Conjurado’s bronze on Board 6.
