NU Manila CTHM Students Bag Global Student Challenge Award

The NU Manila 4th year BS Tourism Management students, Khate T. Advincula, Aaron Jember R. Devora, Andrei Leonor G. Gagarin, Nathaniel M. Leonin, and Marcus Genesis D.R. Pelaez, mentored by Prof. Kyrie Eleison Muñoz, bag the People’s Choice Award in the 2023 Global Student Challenge with their research proposal titled “A Laborer’s Ballad: A Phenomenological Study on Work Precarity of EMBO Service Crews amidst the Makati-Taguig Territorial Dispute,” presented at the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) in Taiwan. ​
The International Master’s Program of Tourism and Hospitality (IMTH) at NKUHT, Taiwan, organizes the competition, focusing on sustainable innovation in tourism and hospitality with the goal of encouraging innovative solutions that prioritize sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience in the tourism and hospitality sectors. The said event is attended by various undergraduate and graduate students from international universities across Asia and Europe.​
This academic endeavor is one of the international research student engagement initiatives of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, supporting the goal of establishing NU as a center for research excellence.​
