NU Alumni ABComm’s Inaugural of Gintong Bughaw Awards

National University Manila’s AB Communication program recently held its first inaugural Gintong Bughaw Award ceremony last August 24, 2024, at the 12th Floor Multipurpose Hall Annex Building, during the annual general assembly for AB Communication students.

This new accolade honors exceptional alumni for their leadership, academic excellence, and impactful contributions to the community. The selection process involved voting by AB Communication students and deliberation by AB Communication faculty members.

The event began with a brief presentation by Ms. Chelsea Banaag, adviser of NU Alumni COMMunity who highlighted the selection process and the significance of the Gintong Bughaw Award, emphasizing its role in connecting past achievements with future aspirations.

The ceremony recognized Renier James Bacus, Magna Cum Laude and former UAAP photographer; Chris Bonifacio, Magna Cum Laude and former Vice President-External of The Commpendium; and Leira Althea Lopez, Summa Cum Laude and former Director for Non-Academics under the Office of the President. Each recipient received a certificate of recognition, a plaque, a stole, and a commemorative token from the Alumni Affairs Office.

The awards were presented by Ms. Chelsea Banaag, The Commpendium adviser Ms. Danielle De Guzman, Mr. Ian Velasquez, Mr. Mel Casipit, Ms. Shaira Habon, AB Communication Program Chair Mr. Denson Acomular, and Mr. John Alvis Guntan, Associate from the Alumni Affairs Office.

Gintong Bughaw Awards not only celebrates the achievements of its first recipients but also establishes a new tradition of excellence for the AB Communication program and its alumni.
