National University Joins GMA MASTERCLASS: Dapat Totoo Series

With the 2025 elections fast approaching, National University students took part in the GMA Masterclass: Dapat Totoo Series, an initiative by GMA Integrated News, GMA Regional TV, and Synergy to promote truth in media. This event gathered top journalists and media personalities to educate future communicators on the crucial role of responsible journalism during election season.

Renowned journalists Atom Araullo, Sandra Aguinaldo, and Howie Severino emphasized the importance of fact-checking, ethical reporting, and combatting misinformation—especially in an era where social media influences voters’ decisions. Karen Mayrina and Theodore Ortiz discussed the role of digital media in shaping public discourse, while Bea Gomez highlighted advocacy and social responsibility.

The Dapat Totoo Masterclass was a timely and insightful experience for NU students, reinforcing their role as informed citizens and future media practitioners. As the country prepares for another pivotal election, they are left with a deeper understanding of the media’s impact on democracy and the responsibility to uphold truth in their platforms.
