National U, BFP sign scholarship grants agreement
National University and Bureau of Fire Protection held a signing of a memorandum of agreement last September 5, 2019 at the 12th floor Function Room in the NU Annex Building. National U was represented by president Dr. Renato Carlos Ermita Jr., while BFP was represented by NU alumnus and chief Fire Director Leonard Bañago.
In the said agreement, NU and BFP will be giving scholarship grants to qualified and active commissioned officers and non-officer ranks of the BFP and their legitimate dependents. This includes the minor unmarried siblings of unmarried active commissioned officers and non-officer ranks and minor children of unmarried active commissioned officers and non-officer ranks. The agreement indicates that qualified scholars will receive twenty percent (20%) discount on tuition fees and miscellaneous charged for every trimester for all academic programs/courses.
President Ermita happily shared NU’s 10-year expansion program all over the country which he believes will benefit the BFP scholars.
“We are targeting 20 schools nationwide and there will be 20 programs per school. I believe this really fits our partnership with the BFP because we know your reach is nationwide.”
Meanwhile, BFP chief Bañago proudly endorsed NU as he is an alumnus of the university.
“This scholarship grant to the BFP personnel will give their children chance to go to college. So, encourage natin na dito mag-enroll sa NU, tignan nyo naman kung paano mga produkto ng NU. Suportahan natin ito.”
