LAWA PH Pays Courtesy Call to National University President/CEO

The LAWA (Leptospirosis Awareness, Warning & Action) PH team paid a courtesy visit to National University President/CEO, Dr. Renato Carlos H. Ermita, Jr. During the meeting, LAWA PH shared the story of its evolution, from its inception to its growth through key academic partnerships which helped expand LAWA PH’s network and influence.

A major milestone in the project’s development was the presentation of the LAWA PH model at the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN) conference in Thailand, which led to essential connections and funding support from Chevron—vital in propelling the initiative forward.

President RJ expressed strong support for enhancing barangay-level collaborations, particularly in community extension programs and research initiatives. He also emphasized the importance of distributing the LAWA PH Guidebook across National University branches, as well as PUP and NEU, to promote localized One Health initiatives.

As part of its ongoing outreach efforts, LAWA PH is preparing to launch a School Caravan, designed to raise awareness about water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and to promote the One Health approach. The caravan aims to educate students, distribute the LAWA PH Guidebook, and foster partnerships between schools and local communities for sustainable health and environmental programs.
