International Student Support
Description
The Student Development Office (S.D.A.O.) is in charge of assisting and providing necessary support to all prospective and current enrolled international students in processing their requirements for Student Visa (Bureau of Immigration) and Eligibility Certificate (Commission on Higher Education), which a dedicated full-time liaison officer handle. The S.D.A.O. also promotes participation in school activities that will enrich their learning experiences and join recognized organizations while studying in the Philippines and as a student.
International Student Support Center is a community open to people of different backgrounds.
Objectives:
- To process the student visa of all the international students enrolled per term.
- To plan, implement, evaluate, and support projects that cater to international students’ academic and extra-curricular needs.
- To make them feel welcome and safe in a community open to people with diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Student Development and Activities Staff – assists and receives the documents for the student visa application.
- Liaison Officer – recommends appropriate action and performs duties without the Student Development and Activities Staff.
- International Student – Foreign nationals who want to study or are presently enrolled in a National University and will submit all the requirements needed by the Bureau of Immigration; they will also be responsible for paying for their visa application for their conversion or extension.
STUDENT VISA – Qualified International Student
- At least eighteen (18) years old.
- Below 18 must be represented by a legitimate guardian in the Philippines.
- Has sufficient means for their education.
- International students who seek to enter the Philippines for a temporary stay to take up a course of study higher than high school at a university, college, or school authorized to accept international students.
- And have submitted and complied with all the documentary requirements prescribed in the Checklist of Documentary Requirements for Conversion to Student Visa.
Who is exempted from securing Student Visa and S.S.P.?
Spouses and unmarried dependent children below 21 years old of aliens under the following categories:
- Permanent international residents.
- Aliens with valid working permits under Sections 9(d), 9(g), and 47(a)(2).
- Personnel of international diplomatic and consular missions residing in the Philippines and their dependents.
- Personnel of duly accredited international organizations living in the Philippines and their dependents.
- Holders of Special Investors Resident Visa (S.I.R.V.) and Special Retiree’s Resident Visa (S.R.R.V.); and
- International students coming to the Philippines have 47(a)(2) visas under existing laws.
Student Visa Application
Qualified I.S. shall, through the admitting school’s duly authorized representative, file the appropriate applications after the quarantine protocol once they arrive in the Philippines to file for a student visa application.
Qualified I.S. shall, through the admitting school’s duly authorized representative, file the appropriate applications within thirty days (30) before the expiration date of the student visa.
ICard
An ACR I-Card is a microchip-based, credit card-sized identification card issued to all registered aliens whose stay in the Philippines has exceeded fifty-nine (59) days. It also has an embedded computer chip with biometric security features capable of data management and can be updated electronically.
Process of Student Visa:
- Please proceed to the Student Development and Activities Office for these requirements.
- Tourist to Student Visa (Conversion)
- Student Visa Extension
- Icard Cancellation (2019-2021) – If the student visa expires due to the pandemic timeframe, you will undergo visa conversion, as detailed below.
- Transferee/Shifting program – International students who wish to transfer to our school or shift program must secure a C.H.E.D. Endorsement before extending their student visa.
NOTE: The following application will be a candidate for denial if the I.S.:
- Already exceeded ten or more failed subjects during their stay from their previous school.
- Having a valid student visa but not currently enrolled in their academic year before transferring to our school. This application must still be applied to C.H.E.D. for the proper issuance of their recommendation.
Please take note that the downgrading of the student visa is processed by the International Student.
