UAAP Press Conference sets Season 85 in motion

To shine light on the tournament system and flow of sports activities in the upcoming Season 85, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) conducted its Press Conference today at the Coral Way Entrance Lobby of the MOA Arena in Pasay.
UAAP Director Atty. Rebo Saguisag said that this year’s main focus is “to have a better normal,” catering all sports and welcoming the league to more spectators with patron seats opening for the public.
The tournament will follow a quadruple header on Wednesdays and a double header for Saturday and Sunday schedules until December.
One of the major changes in the league was the challenge system which follows FIBA’s standards as discussed by UAAP Basketball Commissioner Mr. Richard Bachmann.
Meanwhile, NU Men’s Basketball Head Coach Jeff Napa shared that the pre-season tournament prepared the team for the battle and that he expects the team to come out stronger in order to achieve the championship this season.
Although the team lost some of its key players, senior player John Lloyd Clemente confidently shared that there are quality rookie replacements who are doing extra work in their training.
The event was attended by men’s basketball coaches, athletes and university representatives, board of managing directors, board of trustees and bosses from partner networks Smart and Cignal Play.
Starting October 1, UAAP fans may witness live action via One Sports and UAAP Sports Channel on Cignal TV or through Smart Giga play and One Cignal play app.
