National University to pilot CHED’s Coaching Education & Development Program
The National University Philippines and the Commission on Higher Education formalized its partnership through a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the country’s first ever Tertiary Coaching Education & Development Program, held June 13 at the NU MOA Multi-Purpose Hall in Pasay City.
The CHED Commission En Banc earlier approved the said program as part of Chairman J. Prospero “Popoy” De Vera III’s prioritization of Tertiary Sports.
Chair Popoy firmly believes that one of the important measures in producing world class athletes is to make sure that the nation is also developing high caliber and skilled coaches through continuous education, thus, institutionalizing and professionalizing the Sports Coaching in the Philippines.
This complements the vision of NU Chairman Dr. Hans T. Sy, to contribute to the sports development of the Philippines by giving opportunities to athletes through world class sports & training facilities, more so in equipping them with quality education that will prepare them for a better future after their playing years.
The partnership of CHED and NU Philippines marks a significant event in Philippine Sports, especially in honing the next generation of world class athletes.
