Dr. Ricardo De Galicia, concurrent Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Torrijos, Marinduque, earned his degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine at NU in 1993. After passing the licensure examination in 1994, he stayed in Manila for several years to practice his profession. He then decided to return to his hometown to continue his profession and extend his service to his compatriots.

Due to his desire to be of service to the majority, he decided to enter public service by running for a legislative position in his hometown—the Municipality of Torrijos. After rendering three consecutive terms as councilor, he pursued an executive position to continue his public service duty.

“Lumaki kami na kung saan ang aming pamilya ay nasa komportableng kalagayan, ngunit tinuruan kami ng aming mga magulang na maging matulungin.”

Our Nationalian Pride still practices his sworn duty as a dentist and even extends his dental services to his fellow citizens–sometimes free of charge to the less privileged.

“Pinili kong manirahan dito sa probinsya dahil gusto kong pagsilbihan ang aking mga kababayan.”

Currently, he is now in his third and last term as Vice Mayor of the municipality and spearheads the NU Alumni Marinduque Chapter—the first remote chapter of the alumni community located in the province of Marinduque.
