NU Baliwag Launches Project RAFI: Cultivating a Forested and Inclusive Future
July 12, 2025 | Peñabatan, Pulilan, Bulacan
NU Baliwag proudly marks a significant milestone in its commitment to sustainability and community engagement with the launch of Project RAFI—Renewable Actions for a Forested and Inclusive Future. Rooted in the values of environmental stewardship and inclusive development, this project reflects the university’s continuous efforts to create a meaningful impact beyond the walls of its campus.
This initiative builds on the momentum of the previous “Rooted in Service: A Collaborative Tree Planting” activity, in partnership with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) – Pulilan and the Barangay Local Government of Peñabatan. In the prior implementation, 50 fruit-bearing trees were planted, with 37 thriving to this day—a strong testament to the power of consistent care, collaboration, and community-driven change.
Today, Project RAFI moves forward with renewed dedication. An additional 35 trees, including fruit-bearing and Narra varieties, were planted—each one a symbol of hope, resilience, and shared responsibility for the generations to come.
In support of holistic environmental action, a clean-up drive was also conducted in the area. Volunteers worked hand in hand to remove waste and debris, fostering a cleaner, safer environment for the newly planted trees and the local community.
“Strategic steps, sustainable impacts.”
Through Project RAFI, NU Baliwag demonstrates its enduring commitment to sustainability and inclusive growth. It is more than just a greening initiative—it is a reflection of our identity as an institution rooted in service, driven by purpose, and united for a better future.
